Diam International Growth Drives Relocation into Yonkers
14 October 2004
Diam International, along with Yonkers Mayor Philip Amicone, today announced the relocation of Diam International's world headquarters to 555 Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers.
Construction has progressed on time and Diam's refurbished 435,000 square foot facility will become the first international headquarters to locate in Yonkers in 25 years. Jean-Andre Rougeot, CEO of Diam International commented, "We are very excited to be moving to this state-of-the-art facility in Yonkers. It provides additional capacity for our growing business and allows us to better service our customers. We are grateful to the State of New York and Governor Pataki, as well as the Mayor, the City Council and the Economic Development Commission, who helped us identify the site and provided support throughout the process. We look forward to becoming part of the Yonkers community."
Hiring will begin immediately. The screening process for recruitment of production and office personnel will begin with a Job Fair on October 15 in the Yonkers Riverfront Library, from 10 am to 3 pm. Interested applicants can also pick up applications at the Yonkers Employment Center at 20 South Broadway. Employment inquiries and resumes can be emailed to careers@ny.diam-int.com . Diam does not anticipate any lay-offs of existing full time personnel, as their existing facilities in Queens, the Bronx and Brooklyn are now in full production.
Mayor Amicone remarked, "I am pleased that Diam International will soon become part of the fabric of the business community in the City of Yonkers." He further stated that, "In addition to the tax revenues that will be generated by this move, Diam will be providing many opportunities for our residents and I look forward to a long lasting and positive relationship with this premier international organization."
Governor Pataki added, "Diam International is making a tremendous investment in Yonkers by establishing its headquarters and manufacturing operations in the City. This move will not only create hundreds of new jobs for the people of Yonkers and the Westchester region, but it also allows a long vacant facility to be productive once again. We've made tremendous progress in creating new jobs and new economic opportunities for New Yorkers and today's announcement marks another step in our ambitious goal of creating one million new jobs by the end of the decade."
